Writing on prompts that inspire like, “to understand me, you should know…” or “if I was in charge of the world I’d…” you will receive support to say it on the mic proudly and grow confidence in your courageous story! Poetry writing and spoken word for youth ages 12-17 at Sister’s Uptown Bookstore in Harlem. No experience necessary! Join us to explore prompts that inspire, music accompaniment with words, and selections from many great classic and contemporary authors whose books line the shelves at the only African American owned bookstore in New York City.

Uptown Team Dreamers Virtual poetry and spoken word workshops on Zoom supported by Poets & Writers, Inc.
Inspired by Amanda Gorman (Youth Poet Laureate and performance poet for the 2021 Presidential inauguration, and exploration of other contemporary youth writers, the Uptown Team Dreamers weekly workshop stimulates writing on poetry prompts during our weekly event. Also included is the opportunity to read their spoken word which further motivates youth in this dynamic series.
