Poetry Speaks for Us utilizes writing and spoken word to empower and connect individuals of all ages and abilities creatively with themselves and others. We have witnessed the incredible impact of these intergenerational exchanges in the communities we serve, from homeless shelters and supportive housing to crisis respites, youth groups, high school libraries, and our favorite community bookstore, www.sistersuptownbookstore.com.

We foster understanding and connections, creating a safe space where individuals can engage in conversations and share their work in progress. Writing and sharing poems, prose, and creative storytelling illuminates our realities and provides social and emotional support, helping us navigate the challenges of the day. Reading our work aloud strengthens our connections to ourselves and our community, promoting personal and social change as we grow together.
