Poetry Speaks for Us series culminate with invitation to submit poems for a final self-published anthology chapbook for everyone. It is an extraordinarily empowering moment, particularly for people who are currently experiencing displacement or marginalization, to read from a concrete volume they have contributed to, that honors their work and them. The chapbooks are also evidence that they are published writers; something they can proudly put on resumes, job or housing applications. The workshops are not only creative outlet that builds confidence, but can also help those who are disenfranchised to gain respect and achieve goals.

Poetry Speaks for us @ Bronx Crisis Respite

“Poetry Speaks for Us has been working with our program providing a poetry workshop for our consumers that deal with mental health and emotional challenges. They have been absolutely amazing, providing a safe space for all who participate. It is apparent that they love what they do. Their passion is undeniable, true lovers of art and all things creative, they have made poetry accessible to all, those who read, write and sing as well as those who never believed they could be an artist. I highly recommend them to anyone considering their services. "
